There is a component named Android System WebView that is being used in many Android applications including Gmail, Whatsapp, Twitter and others to display web content. A bug in the Android System WebView was causing it to crash the Applications. Google recently fixed this issue.
In order to fix this in your Android Phone, you need to update the Android System WebView and also Google Chrome from the Google Play Store.
Here are the steps to update both components on your android mobile:
- Navigate to the Play Store app – Google Play Store.
- Search for Android System WebView
- Select the “Update” option
- Repeat these steps for Google Chrome

What to do if you are not able to update the Android System WebView
If you are not able to update the Android System WebView, as a temporary solution you can try clearing the cache of the Android WebView from the App Settings.
Or you can try uinstalling the buggy version of the application.
