World’s smallest PC, about size of a USB Drive

raspberry-pi-smallest-pcWorld’s smallest PC – Raspberry Pi is here. It is of size of a USB Drive. This little computer is developed on a single circuit board. User can run various applications on it. A boom for low cost PCs for students.

This PC – Raspberry Pi is developed by the Raspberry Pi Foundation (a UK registered charity).  Raspberry Pi Foundation promote the study of computer science and related topics, especially at school level, and to put the fun back into learning computing.

Configuration of Raspberry Pi

Raspberry Pi has following configuration:

  • Processor: 700MHz ARM11
  • Memory (RAM): 128MB of SDRAM
  • Video Support: OpenGL ES 2.0, 1080p30 H.264 high-profile decode, Composite and HDMI video output
  • USB: USB 2.0
  • Memory Card Support: SD/MMC/SDIO memory card slot
  • General-purpose I/O
  • Software Support: Ubuntu, Iceweasel, KOffice, Python

It’s designed to run open source software and Operating Systems like Ubuntu. It’s target cost is $25. It is developed to help the school children for educational purposes. It is designed in such a way that it can be plug into a TV or be combined with a touch screen for a low cost tablet (as seen in above picture). The expected price is $25 for a fully-configured system.
